Weight Lifting Shoes

Clothing is important when weight lifting, especially shoes that provide the stable base needed when you lift, without the right type of shoes you will feel uncomfortable while weight lifting. It is important to find the right training shoes, they should be comfortable and have good grip.

Size is important – most people wear the wrong size a lot of the time. Shoes that are too large will give your feet room to move and slip about inside them causing you to fall. Similarly shoes that are too small are not only uncomfortable but also just as dangerous.

Grip and thus good traction is vital for weight lifting. This is because the weight is acting against gravity with only you legs to prevent it so it is essential you have a firm footing. The slightest slip can cause serious injury so decent shoes can prevent accidents.

Athlete’s clothes vary depending upon the sport; often they have a common basis but vary in special details specific to a particular sport. The same is true of shoes running shoes, spiked football boots and pumps are all examples of this. They are all designed to do a specific job, as are weight lifting shoes.

The first weight lifting shoes were designed to allow a lot of ankle mobility whilst still supporting the ankle joint. Modern shoes are similar in that they still support the ankle whilst allowing a large amount of movement, but now have an extremely strong grip and no leather sole (too slippery).
